NG900 Clutch replacement

I have a quick question for all you saab lovers.
I just bought a 1997 900s in great shape, except the TO bearing is making sounds. I know I have to replace it and the clutch/pressure plate. Is it true that the transmission has to be removes, or can it just be slid out of the way? Same with subframe? I'm not afraid to do the work, but I want to save some time if possible. (not to mention $1000 at the shop!)
Any advice is greatly appreciated
Thanks!
