I'm not really positive about issues to look for, however the 9-3se is not the same engine as the 9-3 viggen. I have had a 99 viggen for almost 2 years now and have had minimal problems. I did have to retorque the head bolts, it was leaking a lot of coolant, but i guess thats just something will saab that happens so i hear. I think with all saabs a DIC is a hit or miss, the new ones i think are better reliability, such as 03-07 i think. the 99's were the first year, so they dont have TCS on off option like the 00-02's do, and the 99's dont have on star. there are no recalls that i know of if thats what you mean by warranty replacements. what i would look for is to make sure it is getting full boost, needle into the red, that can be a tricky problem to locate if its not. make sure the trans is good, and i'd check the brakes, those are damn expensive to replace, at about $230 for a set of front rotors. 60-90 for pads... thats about $300 a brake job just in parts and just the front brakes. thats is you do it yourself. anyway... good luck
