Well, I'm entering the third month of my top not working. I'm getting tired of being outbid on eBay, overcharged or flat out ignored by third parties when it comes to this stupid car. So here's my latest question...
Is it possible to over-ride the top computer module so I can work the fifth bow and tonneau cover irregardless of an error?
To save everyone the trouble here's my problem... the hinge on frame arm no.1, passenger-side, has cracked off making it impossible to power the top down. The sensors generate a "Check Soft Top" error code which prevents the tonneau from opening, closing and locking down. You can manually put the top down, but because of the cracked hinge the sensors pick up a misalignment, generate the "CST" error and prevent the fifth bow and tonneau from working. So the top either has to be up all the time or down all the time.
P.S. DON'T TELL ME TO USE THE MANUAL RELEASE LEVER! That's not the solution. :-)
So, back to my question, is it possible to bypass the top computer so that the fifth bow and the tonneau will still operate even with a cracked hinge on the frame arm? If nothing else it would kill the stupid "Check Latches" alarm that goes off everytime I stop or accelerate the car.
Thanx for your time!
John, the not-so-proud owner of a '96 Saab 900S convertible soon to be at a junk-yard near you!
