I am running into the same problem now after receiving my 2nd switch from an internet firm for my '95 900. Both of these work the same, but totally opposite of the original switch which I was able to repair. I ordered the replacement switch as a backup for when the original completely dies. I can tell you with confidence that not all replacement parts are made to specs. On the replacement switches, I have found common continuity on pins 1 & 3, NC continuity on pins 1 & 2 and 3 & 2, and NO continuity on pins 1 & 4 and 3 & 4. Still searching for what the wiring on the original switch is without having to take it out again and manually checking it.
