I've got a 2002 9-3 SE 205 HP and have had a problem with the check engine light coming on the past couple months. Took it to a good Saab/Volvo independant shop in NJ. They fixed it twice but for a month or so at a time. Seems to happen after a long (one hour plus) highway drive, then a short shut off, and fairly quick restart. They said it was something to do with the fuel / air mix, and replaced the gas cap, the sleeve inside the fuel filler tube and perhaps something else- can't remember. All related to the fuel cap / fill area. They did say that if it happend again, they might need to take out the gas tank because there might some sort of air leak there. I've been reading these posts on the DIC problem, and am wondering if it might be that, and not anything to do with the fuel filling area and its vacuum. Any ideas? My MPG and power seem to have slipped slightly as well, although with a bike rack on the roof in the summer it is hard to tell. Appreciate any ideas. Thanks!
