I am in need of help. I have searched this site for many items, and I have been well pleased with the amount of knowledge that I have gained. There is something though I have ran into that I cannot figure out. My 1997 Saab 900S had been throwing the check gearbox/check engine light. I had it scanned and it had two problems - (1) It needed a new safety neutral switch as it threw the code for that, and (2) it threw the code P0471 (Lock-Up Function Faulty). I was told by a Saab dealer that if I replaced the Neutral Safety Switch that it would solve both issues. Well a installed a new neutral safety switch and low and behold it still throws the P0471 code. I had done research and found that it may be bad grounding from the Motronic control module to the body, and so I added a better ground. That has not solved the problem. I hope that someone will be able to direct me in this issue. The check gearbox/engine lights typically come on under normal driving and it usually happens when going up a hill and the car downshifts.
The car is a 1997 Saab 900S with automatic transmission.
Thanks in advance.
