I bought a 01' 9-3 SE with 45K miles, now have 80K.
The car has been VERY dependable. I change oil every 3K miles, and do all the necessary services at an independent.
Interestingly, I have 35,000 miles on the brake pads, and they still have more than 50% left!
Here are the problem points I've had: master cylinder replaced, clutch master cylinder replaced, A/C compressor replaced (just for bad bearings!), rear shocks replaced (I put in heavy duty sway bar which may have contributed), and DIC went bad (free from Saab recall)
The usual preventitive replacements were idler pulley and clutch (at 75,000 miles).
I find that these cars are relatively dependable, but parts are expensive, and sometimes I had to wait 3 days for a part to be shipped from the east coast. In a few years I'm hoping rebuilt parts start coming on line (like I couldn't get a used A/C compressor on such a new car).
It's not as dependable as a Honda, but it's still dependable, and the extra expense on parts is worth the fun of driving it.
