To add to the general cloud of information regarding SID pixel repairs, I'll add my experience.

My SID was missing quite a few pixels (like 30%), so I looked for and found very good instructions on Saabnet regarding using a soldering iron to repair the unit. Basically, it involves running a hot soldering iron across the ribbon cable.

Anyway, the instructions were very accurate and easy to understand. I followed them to the word and sure enough, all of my pixels returned ... for one day. During the commute to work the next day, the pixels gradually started disappearing again. I'm still at about 30% pixel loss, but it's a different 30% this time.

I'm glad I tried it, and kudos to the person(s) who posted the instructions. It just didn't work for me. It didn't do any harm either, so I'd say it's at least worth a try.
