If you do find that its the DI Cassette, please post the date code and miles on you care. Just curious, I have a 900set97 with high miles and possible original DI, hope i didn't just jinx myself, knock on wood.
When you turn your car on and then off from the ingnition you will hear a buzz from the DI cassette for a few seconds or more, If not it could be an indication of failure. The Buzz indicates that its cleaning your spark plugs. It is a very noticable sound and can be herd even with the hood closed if you are standing outside the car. Volume and ambience will be constant. But the order of burning plastic is a clear indication of failure. If you do hear the noise, a few poundings with your fist on the gas tank from under couldn't hurt. If it starts you may have a Fuel pump problem. If you'd like you can remove the DI cassette and inspect it for odor then remove and spark plugs and place them back in the cassette and turn your ignition on and off and watch for spark(s) during cleaning. If all spark it may make you wonder if the cassette is good.
900set97, automatic, 174 miles, sedan.
