Hey all, I just purchased an '02 9-3 SE (+premium package) and wanted to share my experience. This is my second Saab, my first being a '97 vert.

I got the car a few days ago from a local indie used car lot. I've purchased a vehicle from them before and trust them entirely. The '02 had 64K on the clock, the interior was immaculate and drove like a peach. Had to have it.

The next day (Sunday), the CEL went on. This freaked me out, since I just got the car. I got the codes pulled, and did some research. I saw a posting here concerning the DIC recall and thought that this had to be the cause of the CEL. The next day, I called the only Saab dealer in town and made an appointment. When I took it in, the guy at the dealer says to me that the car is CPO and still under warrenty. Keep in mind that I did NOT purchase this car from this dealer as used nor did I buy it thinking it was CPO.

When the guy first mentioned to me that it's CPO, I told him that I didn't purchase the car from this particular dealer and that I didn't buy it under the pretense that it's a CPO. He said that it didn't matter how many owners the car has had NOR does it matter where I purchased the car from, it qualified as a CPO. I ended up getting the DIC replaced under recall, got a TB sensor replaced for CEL, they gave it a 20 pt. inspection AND I got a rental car for the day, all of which cost me NOTHING! I could not believe it. All for a car that I didn't even buy from them.

My question is, is there any possible way that this is correct? That my car is CPO no matter where I bought it and how many owners it's had? Did I just get lucky? Can I expect to be able to take it back in for the next 2 years/36K miles for any work that needs to be done and not be charged? I am absolutely amazed by this situation. Also, the dealer I took it to is new to Saab as it was recently acqired by them. What are your thoughts?

P.S. This board is an INVALUABLE resource for Saab owners. Keep up the great work!
