I wouldn't recommend Intrax for a convertible

The problem with Intrax springs is that they have a "barrel" spring design in the rear. When the car is on the ground, a good number of the coils is FULLY compressed, so the whole rear end is then supported by a remaining couple of coils, and the suspension travel is very limited. I asked Intrax technical support about it, and here's their answer:
"They are what we refer to as a "barrel spring" the softer coils are really only there to make the spring long enough to have some preload when the car is raised up. This is normal and is really the only way to design a spring for this application, without making it to short to be safe."
The problem, however, is that it greatly affects the comfort. I had these springs on the hatchback for a year and a half, and the ride was not pleasant, but tolerable. I recently moved them to a convertible and found that they are even worse in that application. The rear end on the convertible is heavier, so the springs are compressed even more. This makes the car sit even lower and makes the ride very harsh (which further hurts the comfort since the convertible body lacks stiffness).
Looking for other options at the moment.
