Problem: if outside temp is 50F or below, engine temp gauge often hovers around 7:30 - 8:00 instead of 9:00.
I changed the t-stat a year or two ago with no change.
recently on cold startup, I monitored the upper rad hose and it stayed cool until engine up to temp, then hot, t-stat functions.
I monitored engine temp sensor and near as I can tell it's OK, fairly agreed with datapoint in Haynes manual for NG900.
The fan ran continuously, but I had the temp sense connector off and after the engine warmed up and the plug reinstalled it shut off.
I recall discussions about mislabeled t-stats possible I would get this behaviour? Above 50F outside temp, gauge solid on 9:00.
I know ECU programmable for different behaviour hopefully mine is set to 'sensitive' or whatever shows actual variations (not a fancified idiot lite).
Anyway possible an overactive fan would cause this? Knowledge of time relationship between t-stat open /close and temp sense / fan on / off would be helpful. Maybe I need to monitor fan speed & actual temp sense reading?
