Brake Question

Hello All!
'95 900s 2.3na manual vert 130K
Twice in the last two weeks I happened to be in 2 different steeeep driveways with no turn around. So while I was backing out (in neutral) with my foot on the brake I heard a clunk. The car lurched for a second and the brake pedal went down about an inch - Dooh! The brakes worked fine except for that one second when I heard the clunk and the pedal dropped. Once I cleaned out my pants, I tested the brakes (by driving slowly on the street) after the first occurance and all was well in forward and reverse with normal pedal level. Then the same happened again a few days later same situation. Fluid level ok, pads were ok (checked about 5k ago), parking brake seems to only engage on the passenger side and needs to be adjusted.
Any ideas???
Thanks
Steve
