I got one of theose regular old exhaust clamps, disassembled the whole works, reassembled with aforementioned bend tucked up tight to the bottom of the car, tightened said clamp, re-tighened the front and rear clamps and bingo.
Just like New york.
Removing the old system - no clamp forward of the rear muffler, that joint was cemented solid. Thank goodness the muffler was so rotted i was able to chisle it off otherwise I would've had to cut the exhaust pipe - a chore for my dremel I'm sure. Good thing I bought 2 clamps, my car only had one.
Well with a really bad left shoulder I managed it in about 4 hrs.
Tip - if you're not using ramps, I found it easier to get in there by putting the drivers side Front and rear on stands instead of both sides rear.
Sweet sound with a pretty chrome tip to boot.
Thanks to Taliferro / GS.
