I put my remote through the wash on accident. From what I understand this would kill the batteries (2 lithium 2016s) but not harm the remote... In a rush for work, I tried opening the car manually with the key, which only sets off the alarm. So I drove to the hardware store, bought 2 new batteries... still no luck, remote does nothing at this point. Then I vigorously clean it in a bowl of distilled water, let it dry, and the best I can get is the trunk light on the remote blinks rapidly for a little while when you put the batteries in. Still no functionality with the car however.
So my dad took the thing apart and cleaned it thoroughly, said lots of dirt was built up in there. He cleaned it again with alcohol, put batteries in, and every time the trunk LED blinks rapidly for a short period unless you press a button. Is this supposed to happen? Pressing the alarm button 5 times does nothing for me, and I need to drive the car ASAP... replacing the whole alarm unit is NOT desirable as I just bought the car and am a little strapped for cash (no one's fault but my own, but still, I don't have the $500+ to do this).
Anyway I can physically get the remote (shorting it in a certain way?) to send a disarm signal to the car, just at least so I can drive it and then have a new remote assigned later?
