It is very likely that something was not torqued to spec. Perhaps the lug bolts. Or, as happened to me recently, the axle nut. My torque wrench is probably out of calibration, so one of my axle nuts backed out after a front end rebuild I did. The car was very loose, as you can imagine.
Other possibility is improper strut assembly. Depending on what was done, they could have assembled the strut incorrectly. It is easy to make a mistake. I think replacing the front inserts on these cars is among the most complicated things you can do. Certainly not something I would trust a $10/hour mechanic at a tire sale chain.
Can you please give us some additional details as far as what exactly was done?
