What a load of BS. Sure lower octane will probably cause retarded ignition, but only at high loads. Also, regular gas actually burns faster then premium, so while ignition may be retarded a bit, the faster burning fuel will offset this slightly. and since it will only happen at high loads, it will happen rarely unless you are towing a trailer or driving uphill for miles.
