Car suddenly died

I was out enjoying the weather today and had my first concerning problem with my car. I was going on an onramp in 2nd gear, punched it down (as I have many times before) and when shifting to 3rd the car just died, but it kept coasting nicely. I then pushed in the clutch and made it to the next offramp, coasted 2 city blocks (actually, its ability to coast is quite impressive)and pulled over. I opened the hood and nothing looked out of place, so I turned the key and the car started. No CEL codes appeared, no rough idle, perfect as ususal. I babied it till I was a mile from my house and then I flogged it from several stop lights to try to repeat the problem, but it ran perfectly (the TCS did little for wheel spin). The car has been in for the DI recall, one thing that is out of the ordinary is the SID started sending the "Service needed" or "Chech up needed" the last 3 times I started it up. It has 62,000 on it and I am taking it in for the 60,000, in the next week or so. The car is a 02 Viggen Vert. Does anyone have any ideas on what could be the problem?
