As engine managment ststems became increasingly complex manufacturers let mechanics with an OBII reader into all the secrets of the cars recent history. Any PEP Boys, advanced Auto (Etc., Etc...) will pull the codes for you and give you the results for free. Just try to go when they are a litle slow and you wil get what you need. Then come back here and post results. Someone will point you in the right direction. Popping off the battery cable to reset and ignore the CEL sort of defeats it's purpose if you know what I mean.
