try Cleaning/Lubing throwout bearing first Posted by frank [Email] (#2509) [Profile/Gallery] (more from frank) on Wed, 18 Oct 2006 07:31:12 In Reply to: Re: Cleaning/Lubing throwout bearing--clutch cable woes, Ron, Tue, 17 Oct 2006 10:24:53 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
clean and lube got rid of my shudder for a while. There is a little black plastic cover at 9 oclock on the trans. If your facing the front of the car it is to the right of the engine midway down on the trans. Took me a while to find it. Be careful when you pry it off otherwise you might break the tabs which hold it in place and become brittle over time. Once you have the cap off shine a light in there and familiarize your self with the components. Clutch and pressure plate are to the left. You want to clean and lube the shaft and bearing which are visible and to the right of the pressure plate. Have a buddy depress the clutch will you spray some cleaner and then lubricant. I used marine gear and bearing grease which worked better than wd40 and had a handy extension tube. Goodluck and if you grease up the clutch plate don't blame me.
