I know some will say you can not but I will tell you 1st hand you can do it.
You do not need to buy the entire fuel pump assembly. Just buy the Walbro fuel pump, which fits internally in the pump assembly. You can buy the Walbro pump for just over $100. The entire fuel pump assembly (which many will say you need) is about $500.
If I ever have to do a fuel pump on this car, I will deffinately cut a small access hole under the rear seat. The rear seat some out in minutes. The pump comes out in 15 mins, new Walbro Pump installed in about 45 mins. New pump in about 30 mins. An extremely easy job.
If you go anywhere, or follow many of the posts instructions, they will say to drop the fuel tank to gain access to the pump, which is located on top of the tank. It is screwed into the tank, so buy a new gasket as well.
Once again this is an easy job. I say this as I had a dealer replace mine with an entire fuel pump assembly. Cost me about $900 in the end after a fuel filter and other misc costs. Last car I did it on, I did the make hold under seat meathod and I wish I would have saved the $900 for other things.
