Crankcase venting

I don't know what the Saab tech did when following the technical directive while fixing my oil spew, but I don't have any hose out of the valve cover. Found out when the "quick change yer oil guy" pointed it out. The repair happened a few years ago. If I am to make this right, what should the hose and valve configuration be?
Glad to have found this bulletin-board because I am now looking at my engine and recognizing some of the stuff in there.
This is a base 2000 9-3, 106k miles.
My search skills might be suspect, but the postings I've found haven't addressed "no hose in the system".
