I had the mechanic put in Redline MTL of which he said it took almost the 3 quarts I bought for him to install (even though on previous occasions the trans only took about 2 quarts). On the day after the mechanic swapped the trans fluid for fresh MTL, a leak was was found under the car and was stopped by the mechanic, as he stated that his junior mechanic didn't tightened the (level and or drain) trans plugs enough, due to the associated hex key access was stripped.
I don't have a Saab Independent or Dealership mechanic anywhere near Joliet, IL., and subsequently brought my car to a general mechanic just to put fresh MTL in the trans. I also do not have a Redline distributor nearby, so I was wondering on a good alternative to MTL. I was wondering if something like Mobil One synthetic motor oil could be used (as I use in my engine)? Next time the trans oil is addressed, the new hex head type of plugs (with washers?) will replace the stripped access holes of the standard hex key plugs.
Lastly, is there somewhere else I can troubleshoot the deceleration while (from motor/trans) while upshifting, just in case it's not trans related?
Thanks very much for the response and concern on keeping my old girl running,
George M.
