Like Ed says, illegal to move the cat.
But better & easier way to avoid sludge, is good oil & proper intervals. The owner's manual says semi-synthetic, but it's better to use full-synthetic. And I think that 10k miles is too long for most people. I'd use 5 or 6k miles & then if you want to go longer, check out Blackstone labs for oil analysis. After analyzing a couple samples, you'll KNOW how the oil responds to your particular driving habits.
It seems like the sludge problems happen on cars where the carmaker says to go fairly long oil-change intervals.
