I've had a parrot ck3000 BT kit for about 3 years. It was in my VW Jetta before I moved it to my 2002 9-3 about 2 years ago, and has worked perfectly in both application. Until about 2 weeks ago, that is. The kit started acting up, in an unpredictable manner. Its started out as progressively degrading SQ, and ended with my being completely unable to connect my phone to the kit.

Then, last week, I came out to my car after parking for a couple of days and found my battery dead. The battery is basically brand new, so I knew something was up.

I got a jump yesterday morning, and set about diagnosing the problem, figuring that the previously malfunctioning BT kit may have something to do with it. After a couple of hours with the dash apart, I found nothing out of the ordinary, and put the dash back together, frustrated.

I went out to the car later yesterday evening. Before I even unlocked the doors, I knew something was up: the SID was illuminated, showing "telephone". The SID then went dark, but about 30 seconds later illuminated again, with the same message. It appears that the Parrot kit was spontaneously connecting and reconnecting to the hot circuit.

I once again pulled the HU and re-checked the harnesses (the Parrot harness sits in-line with the SAAB harness). Nothing seemed out of the ordinary (no worn insulation or obvious areas of wear that could cause a short, etc.). Bottom line, I pulled the BT kit, and the car now behaves exactly as it supposed to.

Has anyone else had issues like this with a Parrot BT kit? I was contemplating replacing my old unit with a CK 3200, but I have a bit if a bad taste in my mouth, obviously. Any other kits out there that integrate so well into the factory sound system?

thanks,
SM
