This post if from years ago, but I have just got my Aero 2004 Convertible and there is a very high pirched whistle coming from inside the car. I get in the car, no whistle, fire up the ignition and drive it (whistle starts straight away). The pitch and volume is constant, and not related to speeds or engine revs etc, still there when radio AND A/C off.
Then when I stop and turn off the ignition. If I sit there for long enough, say around 5-10 minutes, eventually all the dash display (above steering wheel) goes out, shortly followed by the number lights on the dash mounted cd changer (buttons 1 thro 4 for example) then there is a very quiet 'pop' noise from the speakers and the whistle stops!!!
Can anyone shed light on this?? My salesman in my local dealership (Edinburgh, UK) even denied he can hear the whistle today when i sat him in the car! My wife and son hear it clearly...
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks
Steve
