Radio Removal/Disconnection - Hot Cocoa in the Radio Posted by Randy Thatcher [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() |
2001 9-3 base coupe...
So my wife managed to spill cocoa into the SID and Radio. Everything works but the buttons are sticky and the cd player is having trouble spitting out discs. I think the soft material protecting the cd unit from dust (where you actually put the CD in) is gummed up with sticky hot chocolate.
I know how to pull them both out with a radio removal tool (sent the SID off for pixel repair a while back), but the critical question is about disconnecting the radio. If I pull the wires will I need some kind of radio code? Will the unit become "unmarried" from the car? I don't mind taking the thing apart a bit to clean it out, I just don't want to put it back in and find it won't work without a TechII hookup at the dealer.
I'm quite tempted to glue that cupholder closed when the whole thing is apart. What a stupid place for putting a drink!
Thanks in advance!
Randy
