You're right, white is vacuum, yellow and red are boost, and the line in between white and yellow is atmospheric pressure (zero). Normally there should be some vacuum when idling. It should only read zero as the turbo starts to boost and cancels out the engine's normal vacuum. Does your gauge really read right in the middle of the white and yellow sections? I could see that happening on a mechanical gauge that's become disconnected, but the 900's is electric and gets its signal from a little box under the strut tower. You might make sure the hose that connects the box to the throttle body is intact.
