Get a good pair of heavy duty tin snips and the job will be easy. Be careful and don't cut the wires. Removing the pump's retaining ring can be tricky. SAAB has a special tool to do this but the right pair of pliars will do the trick too. Fitting the old fuel hose on the new pump barb can be difficult. A hair blow dryer will make the hose soft enough to get it into position.
When finished, I slit a couple feet of small diameter hose lengthwise and used it to cover the exposed metal. This will work like a grommet to protect the wires. I also stuffed some fiberglass insulation into the hole to keep out road noise.
