I tried to rebuild a turbo in recent months and didn't have much luck. The turbo was the original from my car and had 165k miles. The turbo was a smoker and the seals were gone and oil was being cycled into my intake, (Compressor Seal), and Exhaust,(Turbine Seal). The waste gate was realy worn. Turbine did turn when I removed it from my car and lots of pay existed in the Turbo shaft. You will need and industrial set of snap ring pliers. There was lots of oil burned hard in the turbine. After rebiulding the turbo,(6hrs or more). The rebiuld kit caused the Turine to have a slight scrap. Upon disasemble the rebiuld kit parts broke, total waste of time. I did learn alot but over all its not worth the time. I would purchase a used one for 300usd, not a rebiuld. If you where going to replace the turbine and compressor, I don't know how would ever get it balanced. If you are really wanting the t28, call goldwing saab in NY and purchase used. or spend 150 for a kit and spend time. They turbo i bought used actually came with a 9 month warranty.
