Always post the year, model, engine of your Saab.
Pre-1996, no it won't set a code, but you will still get noise from the shut off valve opening up and allowing air into the exhaust unless you plug that off as well.
1996-> Yes it will set the MIL (Malfuntion Indicator Light) on.
Seem like a lot of work for 90 seconds of noise, but to each their own.
