Hello all,
I have a '99 9-3SE with 180k miles. Recently I went to have an inspection and failed because both tie rod ends were gone. Thats the second time in 1 year. But anyways, I replaced the tie rod ends and had to get an alignment because the steering wheel was off a bit. Today I got an alignment from the guy who always does my alignments. He always does it to Viggen spec for me irregardless of tire size. He took it for a test drive after and said that it was perfectly straight when he left. When he entered a turn at speed the steering wheel came back a bit off kilter. It is off a bit to the right. Even driving home it still is off. So what the could possibly do this? Is it simply that maybe the adjustment screws moved that connect the tie rods because maybe I didn't tighten them enough or something? Many suspension components have been replaced recently. In the past 2 years or 60,000 miles, the struts, strut mounts, strut bearings, tie rod ends, 1 inner tie rod, and a driver side control arm have been replaced. The only other thing that sticks out in my mind is the inner tie rod is about half an inch shorter than the original even though its the same part for my car but aftermarket. So I guess I am asking where to look next or if that the adjustment screw is possible to blame? Help me out! Thanks guys. Take care.
