How many hours did he charge for fault tracing?
How many hours does he charge to drain and remove the gas tank to replace the pump.
Was the gas tank full when it happened?
Is it lots of rust problems where you live?
Is it a chance that the car started right away when the tow truck dropped it off and they had to drive the car and do a lot of fault tracing before even finding the problem?
$563.00 is the suggested retail price for just the pump so that might be what he charged for it.
Count on 2-3 hours in labor just to drop the tank and replace the pump in a good scenario.
If both tank straps are rusted off plus clamps, it is also going to affect the price.
It's always difficult to give advice when you don't know the whole scenario and how it unfolded.
