Just finished reading about problem with keys.
Pls read the following and weep /laugh / learn.
Daughter calls "Dad can't start my 96 900S, key will not turn ignition switch, Help "
Dad drives to daughter's place with spare key. It will not work either.
However dad had noted that when he opened drivers door the ringing sound / warning, as if key had not been removed when vehicle last used.
Checked Owners manual for help related to Problems with park/ignition locking feature. Pulled appropriate fuse as was suggested but that did not help.
Still wondering about warning sound and fact that it would not stop even when I inserted and removed both keys that I had.
I went into garage and came back with can of WD 40 and sprayed into ignition aperture and played with key several times. Ringing stopped and was able to move key and start the 900.
I presume that over the years dust had accumilated on the insides of the ignition switch and finally had created a situation where even when key was removed contact was not ended and thus vehicle could not be re- started, for we had learned, that if vehicle ignition is turned off one must remove and re insert the key to restart vehicle.
Pros and cons of Ignition switch being where they are in a Saab. ????
Comments anyone !!!!
