The magnet on the Kenwood's was about a third smaller than the stock speaker. I've decided to try a kenwood eXcelon with an 11.6 oz magnet compared to 6.3 for the kenwoods I just returned.
How important is the magnet size in amount of bass produced from a set output. Obviously our amp is low powered so, I am not worried about blowing the speaker but would like to up both the amount of bass these produce and the clarity by a speaker change. Of course the woofer material matters I'm sure.
The thing I don't get is looking on Partsexpress.com they have mids with magnet weights of 20-40 oz double to triple everything I find for standard and even high end car audio stuff. Are these speakers going to put out increased bass over a standard car speaker, most of them are not specifically car speakers and I don't know if that really matters.
Thanks
adam
