Temp Gauge/Speedometer Display Problem

Okay, I'm getting disgusted...here's the problem with my 1997 Saab 900 S.
The temperature gauge itself won't work...temp sensors (senders?) have been replaced, as has the thermostat. The engine runs beautifully and there doesn't seem to be any overheating issues, but I would feel much better if that reassuring temp gauge would do what it's supposed to do.
Problem two: the speedometer display only lights up to 90 mph - it's very disconcerting to have half of the 'circle' missing. Not that I plan to drive it over 90 mph, but still, it's just wrong. Would a burned out bulb be a possibility or would a broken wire be a more likely culprit? And could a broken wire be somehow responsible for the non-working temp gauge?
Thanks for any help or suggestions!
