Thanks for the feedback and support guys. One question, what is "black book", and how can I find it for use in reference?
My understanding is that they're supposed to pay out what it would cost to replace the car at (dealer) retail prices, which of course is more than you'd pay a private seller. Note that since they're offering 11k *including TTL*, this is more like a 10k offer.
The Carmax '01 is not an SE, which is worth at least a grand, if not two. Closest thing I can find there is the '02 SE in Salt Lake w/44k at $14k.
I found the following elsewhere:
1) a nearly identical car (80k miles vs. my 73k) at a dealer in Portland for 12.9
2) an identical one in Milwaukee for 13.0
3) an '02 SE w/o premium package locally for 12.9 (already sold)
4) an '02 SE w/ premium package and 56k locally for 14.0
5) an '02 SE of unknown configuration locally for 12.0
To me this says the right price is 12-13k. Am I missing something, other than Allstate doesn't want to pay?
