2 concerns: brake and engine vibration

Hi, I have two concerns about my 97 900S 2.3L 98K 5DR.
1. When I brake and release sometimes I hear the whirring of the brakes pads on the rotor? immediately after for a few blocks, especially when I am going slowly? How to fix this? I replaced all my rotors and pads one year ago. Is something loose? The sound is more pronounced when I turn the wheel left.
2. I was told about two years ago when replacing my tires that the transmission resting on these rubber cushions (name?) that have since dried up or perhaps one of the 3-4 cushion parts had fallen off? which is making the engine sit really loudly and cause vibration when idle, e.g. I can feel the vibration through the brake pedal when stopping at intersections. The mechanic said it would be hard to determine because he would need to unscrew some large part and it would take time in order to see whether it was indeed the cushion that was the culprit. Now the sound is getting quite loud and I wish to repair it.
Any advise on the above and how much it will cost be to replace would be appreciated. Thanks.
