I suspect something might be going on with the balance shaft system.
You should cut open the oil filter and check the paper for more metal.
Study the timing cover very carefully for scoring too. It might not be enough with just the oil pump and releif valve if the timing cover is worn.
It does work to cut the balance chain from below if you want to disable the system but it will not restore an already worn out timing cover.
The oil pressure will be kept since the tensioner can not "pop out" by design.
I don't remember the socket size but somewhere between 14 and 17mm I think for the main and big end cap.
The main bearing caps are 20Nm + 70° (14.8 lbf ft) and the same for the big end cap.
If you only want to do this ones you need to take the timing cover off, I think.
