ACC temp select is way off - thinks it's cold period...

When I run the ACC autocheck (hold auto and off) it runs the cycle and unlike before (showed 0) it pops up with a one - it finishes the cycle and that's it -

The outside sensor works fine and shows on the display unit -
the ACC amplifier went bad and I drove for 4 weeks with no unit at all (unplugged it completely)
now the AC tries to run heat all of the time - sometimes on the highway when its cool I can get 58 to run vents instead of heat, but lately it's been running heat on anything but LO (which it then kicks in the AC pump and I don't want that!) - I swapped ACC units just to test and the same thing happens, so either something else was ruined when the ACC amplifier went bad or the thing needs asjustment using the programming tool???

I don't like running A/C just vents but they're heating the car - help!
