I took mine off- its kinda nice cause u can leave it in neutral w/o the keys in- and if you plan on a turbo timer or remote start- this makes it possible- as far as trimming and shaving down the white piece of plastic be cafeful and do this with care and take it down a little at a time, try it out and if need be repeat- i shaved mine down a little too much and it is possible to just enter reverse by pushing hard to the right and NOT lifting up on the ring- any questions just email me- not sure too many ppl on here have the mp short shifter- the install was pretty easy, although i had to order a new knob from genuinesaab.com cause i had to destroy mine inorder to get it off the old shifter.
