couple of things I've learned this weekend Posted by adam [Email] ![]() ![]() |
Did several jobs this weekend and wanted to pass along what I've learned.
1) If your directional knobs/ acc is sticking you may be able to fix it by just taking out the ducts to the dashboard vents on either side and greasing the drum. This avoids a lot of excessive removal and will prevent the floor dampers from falling out (which took me a day to fix). If you have trouble with temperature this won't work.
2) If you want to make the cigarette lighter always active instead of just with a key. You can easily connect the positive terminal at the fuse box with the always on power next to from the seat controls. I used one of those add on quick clip so I didn't have to cut any wires. The only thing is make sure you connect to the brown/red strip from the cigarette lighter and then you need to remove the fuse because the reverse lights are on the same switch and will stay on when the car is off (5 speed in reverse because of reverse lock out).
3) MP Performance set screw is 10-24 x 1/4"
4) It is possible to remove the shifter without undoing the shift linkage by drilling a 3/4" hole on the passenger side about 1/2" above the bottom of the shifter unit and right next to the metal "pyramid" directly under the shift knob. This will allow access to the shifter bolt and prevent the headache of having to realign the tranny/shifter. You may destroy the plastic bit in back of it, but I can't figure out what it really does anyway.
