A recommendation for Goerlich's (used to be AP Muffler) center pipe. Much cheaper ($80) than Starla (Walker) and the galvanized coating looks much better. I was apprehensive as it has a small resonator (lighter and more ground clearance!) and had a welded end instead of a continuous formed pipe. Fit perfect - mated perfect with Starla flex pipe and Starla rear mufler. Hanger not as nice as stock but easier to install rubber and will work fine. Bought from Fisher Auto - Federated Auto Parts. Made in USA also.
I also suggest buying GM/Saab clamps. Solid with heavy coat of cold galvanize on them. The aftermaket clamps meleted away.
I had installed the previous system 3 years ago with Starla (Walker). I even painted it. Lots of HW driving but the rear muffler was totally rotted. And the center pipe had through holes where it mated with the rear muffler - had to be replaced - the rest was perfect. I don't think the Starla steel is very good.
Basic problem with the big rear muffler is that it must never get hot enough to get rid of the corrosive moisture.
