95' 900s - switched to MTL 4yrs/60k ago w/definite improvement. 220k now on the ORIGINAL tranny/clutch/linkage & clutch cable. About 10k ago the clutch pedal was getting really close to the floor...the self adj. mech seemed to be striped, so I shimmed the cable to take up the slack.
First, I took some insulation from a 10g amp power cable from my box of car audio odds n'ends, sliced it length wise & slipped it over the clutch cable where it meets the actuating lever on/in the transaxle, then with an assortment of washers & a couple of nickels (drilled/slotted to the diameter of the cable), "shortened" the effective length of the cable! I used RTV silicone to hold the washers & nickels to the cable. The 10g insulation was just to eliminate any chance of chaffing should the business shift around. It works great!
