wow 3 miles a day is tough for these engines, considering the challenge faced with a small turbo motor and the difficulty fighting sludge under good circumstsances.
You've got a lot of money tied up in an 8 or 9 year old car, in my opinion
the best thing to do is drive it.
The Saab will suffer in a comparison with the FX if viewed only from 'looks' and the poor repair record recently of the Saab (of course the imaginary FX had zero repairs).
The beauty of the Saab is more than skin deep, and is hard to appreciate 3 miles at a time.
i'd say drive it, keep ahead of the repair curve, maintain fluids, idler, PCV etc. Good luck!
