Make sure the timing belt and pully assembly have been changed on schedule - failure ruins the engine and this is what turns people off to the V6. The first half of the 1995 year also had a weak front suspension that was upgraded so you might want to check that out.
SAAB pays for the timing belt every 30K I think up to 95K and then you're on your own for about $800.
I've had my 1995 V6 for eight years and although I've had my share of headaches I love the car.
Major expenses/headaches I've had over the years:
Air conditioning - evaporator and condensor - big $$$
Nuetral shift sensor
Air mass sensor
Convertable top motor - there was an upgrade - you might want to check if it was done. Big $$$
Electronic control unit
Valve cover gaskets - getting them sealed on the V6 is a pain
Other than that it's been pretty routine and at 106K the car runs great.
Good luck.
Ron
