Hi Everybody! I'm a college student and I was looking for a fun car that I can throw my bike and skis in the back of... I've been looking at the Subaru wagons, but recently spotted a 1999 Saab 9-3 (5-speed) at a local car lot. It seems like such a sweet car (and probably more fun to drive than a subaru), but it's got 144,000 miles on it and a back window stuck down...so I have a couple of questions.

First, the salesman says he'll get the window fixed, but is it actually a sign of a more serious mechanical (or software like I've been hearing about on this website) problem? I want to avoid as many expensive repairs as possible.

Secondly, how long do they really last? For some cars 144,000 is a ton of miles and it's at the brink of death, but for others 144,000 miles is middle-aged or even young.

I don't know much about Saabs, so I'd really appreciate your help! Thanks! :)
