The first part of the clutch is the toughest to get off since it is a snug fit on compressor shaft. It is special pullers that you install in three screw holes or whatever the design is on that particular clutch to pull the disc off.
You can also use a couple of prybars and slowly pry the outer disc off since you are going to trash it anyway.
The compressor has to be loosened from the engine bracket to reach the clutch with snapring pliers and such.
Keep in mind that the outer clutch disc is shimmed to the inner disc so that a certain space between them are created when disengaged. It is tiny shims installed inside the outer disc to create that clearance.
So if you get the clearance wrong the first time, you have to pull off the outer disc again and that's when it is handy to have the proper puller so you don't damage the new clutch.
