I just wanted to follow-up on this thread. Well, my shaking on acceleration and braking in that 50-70mph range is back and getting worse as the weather warms up. The brake shake actually is observant during harder braking from speed such as for offramp exiting.

I now do not think my belt replacement had any/much effect per this original thread topic. Also, earlier in the hunt for the shaking (2 years), I had the inner driver inspected and there was little wear. I think the inner driver is something more an issue on models earlier than my '99 9-3.

While I am due for a tire rotation/balance, I think the real culprit of the shaking return is with the rotor/pads. If I reflect on the timing of the shaking original start, it was a few months after I had the rotor/pad replaced with generics at a Midas. On one of my services last year, one of my front pads was noticed to be wearing very unevenly. The shop evened them out (not sure how....grinder?). Anyway, the shaking all but disappeared for many months afterwards. However, I thought it was some other stuff that was done at the service.

After some other readings, I think my cheapo rotors warped or somehow went out-of-balanced. This would explain the brake shake. But, it could also explain the shaking at the typical speed resonance too....especially if the pads bump and uneven area. It might also explain why the shaking increases seasonally as the ambient temp gets warmer as any rotor warp/imbalance may be exaggerated with increased thermal expansion.

I will get them inspected as I go in for a balance/rotation on the tires this coming week. If my suspicions are correct, I am going to price new rotors of better quality and see what happens.

Any recommendations on rotors that won't warp so easily but won't cost me a bundle? ....remember this is 1999 car (106k mi) and I don't want to dish out a ton of $$ on something that still may not resolve my shaking.
