Semi-synth is what Saab used when your car was new iirc (10W30?).
Before the OG9-3 run ended M1 0W40 was in there.
Saving $10-$15 dollars per 4K to 5K miles on engine oil isn't good economy.
I'm not an expert but I wouldn't push semi synth past 3K - 3500 miles, with out a used oil analysis.
The price difference is DIY, might be more if someone else does it.
Longer interval for full synth helps mitigate the cost somewhat.
better to use good oil, appropriate intervals, save the $$ by DIY, very simple to do it right on this car.
If you DIY: 6pt 13mm socket for the oil plug, don't overtighten, please! use ramps or a jack stand.
